Meet The Team
Nikki danced from an early age & after becoming head girl of her local dance school and completing her A Levels, she won a three-year scholarship at Italia Conti Performing Arts Academy. She chose to study Accounting & Management at Reading University instead but attended dance teachers training college between lectures. After graduating from university and becoming a chartered accountant with PwC, Nikki took some time off to travel the world.
On her return she decided to follow her passion & Bovingdon Ballet Academy was born in 2013 with just 5 pupils and two Saturday classes. During maternity with Ella, Nikki completed her Diploma in Dance Education with the ISTD in Imperial Ballet. Now, just over five years on, the Academy has blossomed into a successful and thriving school with over 120 pupils and 16 classes. Nikki's ambitions don't end there, she intends to study towards a Diploma in Dance Pedagogy with the goal of one day also becoming an examiner for the ISTD.
In March 2019, Nikki was awarded An Everyday Hero Award by the Mayor of Dacorum for her dedication to building the confidence of her pupils and passing on her passion for dance.
In April 2019, Nikki became a certified AcroDance teacher with Acrobatic Arts and is very excited to be offering this on our timetable. Recently, Nikki completed her Level 1 with Alixia Flexibility to enhance her Acro teaching skills.

Karen started dancing at the age of two, winning competitions & performing professionally from a young age. She gained her ISTD Associates and ISTD Advanced in Ballet, Tap, Modern and National from Harrison College, Watford.
After graduating Karen performed on Carnival and Norwegian Cruise Lines and at the Thomson Gold Hotel in Rhodes, where she was Dance Captain. After having her two children, Karen taught fitness to celebrities such as Amanda Holden and Laura Whitmore. As well as teaching at the Academy she is currently a fitness presenter for Fitsteps, alongside Ian Waite & Natalie Lowe.
Karen joined the Academy in 2016 and has allowed it to grow from a Ballet Academy to a Dance Academy. Both Karen & Nikki will be training towards their Acrobatic Arts qualifications in April 2019.
Karen is always attending workshops and courses to develop her teaching skills and it was her idea for Nikki & herself to train as AcroDance teachers given the demand for dancers to have these skills. Karen successfully became a certified AcroDance teacher in April 2019 with Acrobatic Arts,
