MODERN/JAZZ
Modern and Jazz are exciting, energetic dance styles that help children develop a wide range of movement, performance skills, and physical strength. These styles encourage dancers to move with power, control, flexibility, and confidence, while also learning how to express personality and emotion through movement.

In these classes, dancers begin developing key technical skills such as kicks, leaps, turns, balance, and travelling steps, building strong foundations that support all other dance styles. Alongside technique, children also develop musicality, coordination, rhythm, stamina, and spatial awareness — all in a fun, high-energy environment.

One of the things parents and dancers love most about Modern and Jazz is the variety. One week they might be dancing to a chart-topping pop song, the next to a lively musical theatre routine, and the week after (for our younger dancers) to a much-loved Disney favourite. This keeps classes fresh, exciting, and hugely motivating for dancers of all ages.

At BDA, our Modern and Jazz classes follow the ISTD syllabus, which provides a structured pathway of progression, clear goals, and recognised examinations. This ensures that dancers are not only having fun, but also developing strong technique, discipline, confidence, and performance skills in a safe and supportive environment.

Parents are invited to watch classes once per term, allowing them to celebrate their child’s progress.
